TRW Plant, Saginaw Michigan (Contract Value: $985,000)
This old Chevrolet plant built in 1937 was demolished for B. Smith Enterprises and Ohio Reality Advisors. Berg Demolition had to separate plant 4 from plant 3, Plant 3 is in operation by TRW, as not to interrupt TRW operation. Berg Demolition took the utmost care in the separation and the demo of this 265,000 square foot plant. Berg Demolition helped the owner sell the steel for the very max price.
Miami Dade College Parking Garage Collapse, Miami Florida (undisclosed)
Berg Demolition was called in for emergency response when a catastrophic event happened during the construction of a 6 story parking structure at Miami Dade College. Sections of the parking structure collapsed during construction, killing 4 workers and trapping several others under the rubble. Berg Demolition was able to mobilize within hours and was able to assist Miami Dade Fire Rescue in their recovery efforts. Berg Demolition was also able to install structural shoring to stabilize the structure so that OSHA and the hired structural engineers could enter the parking structure safely. Berg Demolition spent over 1 year assisting OSHA, AJAX (General Contractor) and The Hartford (Insurance Company) in their investigations into the collapse.
Hertz Parking Garage, Miami Florida ($1.85 Million)
This project for Tuner Construction and the Florida Department of Transportation was a three floors of parking at Miami International Airport. At over 785,000 square feet, this garage was the largest on the ground of Miami International Airport and one of the largest in the Southeast United States. Berg Demolition demolished this garage in six weeks using a Komatsu PC600 and several Komatsu PC300 machines. All of the concrete on the site was crushed, screened and then sold to be reused. 98.6% of all of the onsite materials were recycled in the demolition process.
595 – Florida Turnpike Interchange , Davie Florida ($150,000)
Berg Demolition was given 24 hours to cut, remove and clean up a 280 foot bridge span from Westbound I595 to Southbound Florida Turnpike. This bridge span was the main portion of a 1.2 Billion dollar highway improvement project for Dragados USA. Dragados had the Turnpike shut down, diverting 120,000 vehicles, for 24 hours for Berg Demolition to complete the project. The project was completed in under 23 hours, safely and without any complications.
